There are 18 islands in the Faroes; 17 of them inhabited. Torshavn is the capital and the largest city (19,000 people.) Sheep are important, and there are almost as many sheep as there are people in the Islands.
Torshavn was founded in the 10th Century, and may be the oldest capital in Europe.
- Pros:colorful and historic
- Cons:Pretty cool climate
- In a nutshell:Fishing village with a long history

I haven't made it to the Faroe Islands yet, but they look fascinating! Considering how close the Faroes are to here, the flights are very expensive - so I may have to find a cruise that stops there one day!
Thanks for sharing your photos and tips.
Lovely place, very colorful buildings in contrast to the dreary weather!
Wonderful photos and useful info on a seldom visited group of isles. One, Vagar, has an airport that is used by general aviation aircraft crossing the pond on the 2,681 nm long, northern route.
Enjoyed reading your Faroe Islands tips.
Faroe islands are definitely on my wish list for a visit! The bishop's door is gorgeous.
