■ Πώς Το Ελατοχώρι απέχει 95 χλμ. από Θεσσαλονίκη, 460 χλμ. από Αθήνα και 28 χλμ. από Κατερίνη. Φτάνοντας στην πρωτεύουσα της Πιερίας ακολουθείτε την παλαιά εθνική οδό Κατερίνης-Ελασσόνας ανεβαίνοντας σε υψόμετρο 850 μ.
■ Πότε Για σκι στο Χιονοδρομικό Κέντρο Ελατοχωρίου (8 χλμ. απόσταση, www.elatohori-ski.gr/). Ο διθέσιος αναβατήρας «Δίας» (μήκους 1.287 μ.) μπορεί να ανεβάσει 1.200 σκιέρ ανά ώρα στη μέτριας και μεγάλης δυσκολίας πίστα «Κλειώ» και στην πολύ εύκολη «Ερατώ», κατάλληλη για αρχαρίους. Ολες οι πίστες έχουν ονόματα μουσών καθότι είμαστε στα Πιέρια Ορη. Ελάτε για σλάλομ, δράση με snowboard ή για après ski χαλάρωση στο σαλέ με μια κούπα ζεστής σοκολάτας. Info www.elatohori.net/

Palios Panteleimonas

In south Pieria there are several traditional villages, first abandoned in the 70's and then restored for recreation in the 90's. PALIOS PANTELEIMON is one of the most famous and well organized ones, pffering great views of the plain of Katerini and the surrounding sealine!

Mountains...

Pieria district, with Katerini as its capital, offers a variety of winter sport facilities as it is surrounded by two mountains, Pieria mt & Olympos.
At Elatohori one can find a medium size ski resort, 8 km above the village.
At Pieria there are two mountain huts, at Milia and at Sarakatsana.
Olympos has more convenient facilities for all age and laziness groups (Greeks do not walk so much, so there is good access to most locations by car...)

If you like mountains and not only beaches, try Mt. Olympos, the home of the ancient Greek Gods. You have to get to Litohoro (by car, bus or train & taxi), a big village some 100 kms southwest of Thessaloniki. From Litohoro take a taxi (about 20 euro one way) to 'Prionia', alt. 1500 m. There are well maintained paths from 'Prionia' to the 3 mountain hostels up in Olympos, two of them are open from June to September.
