Goodbye 25 & welcome 27! ! ! The European Union has recently welcomed 10 more members, from central& east Europe pluss the island countries of Malta and Cyprus! Bulgaria and Romania are soon to follow.
Finally the E. U. turns to a really European institution, where I hope some democratic criteria apply... Travelling, studying and even working in/ between these 25 countries will becomer easier ...
No reason to worry that diversity will disappear from our continent, we will probably move from national to more regional identities...

I don't think I will ever feel as a citizen of Europe, though, at least not before the European Union develops reliable democratic institutions...
