"There's no Fireside like your own Fireside"Or so the Irish saying goes. Personally I've enjoyed many firesides in my travels that beat my own little coal-effect electric heater hands down every time! Travel broadens the mind they say, it definitely shrinks the bank balance, and it sure as hell can do unmentionable things to one's complacency. But that's exactly how it should be! Anyway, what would there be to mull over and reminisce about at your own fireside in the long winter evenings if you hadn't gotten up off your backside when you had half a chance and ventured further than the confines of your own little world ?????
I've tried to make the pages and travelogues about my own home patch as informative as possible, but I should say at the outset that I prefer to approach any place - especially my own - from an historical (hysterical?) perspective. And I've tried where possible to avoid falling into the trap of sounding like a guide book - these pages represent my own little forays into the great beyond and the experiences I cite are my own. Whether this is of any use at all to the prospective tourist may be debatable, but I hope at least these scribbles are as entertaining as they are uninformative!
Some pages here are bursting with content - others could do with a bit of addition I admit. Some day I'll have the time and might just get round to it. In the meantime I'll give just one word of advice to those foolhardy enough to plough through my content here - The Best Stuff Is In The Travelogues!!! Like my teeth, most of the pictures you see here are my own. All views expressed are most definitely my own. Where a page's design might be a tad crappy however I'll blame that on VT themselves who butchered our work here some while ago and now some of the pages here just don't hang together very well any more. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
So please forgive my occasional verbosities, audacities, incapacities, impudicities, inveracities and (I'm sure all too frequent) atonicities - I'm doin' me level best, as the man sez! :o) |
