Lakes & Beautiful

Skardu is a commerical hub in the Northern Areas of Pakistan and is famous among hikers and climbers as the first major stop for K2 and other Karakoram peaks.

However, Skardu has lot more to offer; Lush Green Valleys; Natural Lakes like Lower Kachura, Upper Kachura, Satpara, Shiosar, etc; Deosain Plains / Deosai Mountains - one of the world's highest planes; Budha Carvings; and most importantly the unique blend of various civilizations.

On this page, you will find tips mostly about trips to valleys and lakes spread around Skardu, which I visited in July 2009. I hope to keep updating this page, so be connected to find out more, and feel free to comment and rate the information presented here...

Unfortunately, VT does not provide specific space for tourist attractions near Skardu, e.g. Kachura Lakes, therefore, I will make use of Skardu Guide to uplaod all the information.

Informative tips with fine photos of the lakes and surrounding mountains. This sounds like a fine destination in its own right, not only as a base camp for mountain climbing.

This is a great page, Muzzammil! Kachura Lake looks very beautiful as does the surrounded area. One should not miss a boat trip in the lake before the sunset, it must be magical. Picking apricots and cherries from the tree, I'll be in heaven :)

In one word it is excellent. You should have put the picture of the aircraft towed from the lake.BTW that 5* hotel rates seem to be wrongly mentioned. It should be $120-140. $20 seems a wrong one. Pl check.
