"Sailing Into San Juan" Puerto Rico by LadyRVG

I really never had a desire to see San Juan but it was a port on one of our cruises. We were originaly scheduled to see San Juan on another day during our trip but it was changed due to weather issues. So we arrived in San Juan early in the morning and disembarked onto the dock. Maybe it was the windy weather, the crowds of tour groups trying to sell us tours or the cabbies yeling that gave me the "Ugg" feeling. We walked from the port and noticed that we had some followers. We ducked into a hotel lobby and decided to see if our "shadows" had left. They did but it gave me that sinking gut feeling that I don't ignore. I convinced Chris to abandon our plans for the day and get back on the ship to relax and make me feel more at ease.

I don't blame this experience on San Juan itself. There are bad elements in every city and town imaginable and they do tend to gravitate on tourist (which we obviously were). I just don't go against my gut feeling (i'd rather be wrong than proven right if something were to happen) and felt safer getting back on the boat. If we ever journey back to San Juan I will book a tour with the cruise company so I feel safer.*
