PLACE MASSENA (Massena Square) is virtually the heart of the city. What a pity the Sun Fountain is no longer there (there is a huge palm tree in its place now). Take a look at one of its bronze sculptures.

The NEGRESCO HOTEL, on the Promenade des Anglais, is a living museum dedicated to its exclusive clientele. It is a symbol of the Belle Epoque that distinguished France at the turn of the century. The building is listed as a historic monument.

One side of the COURS SALEYA is lined by seafood restaurants, the other one - by terrace cafés, lovely old buildings and the grand Prefecture. You have to come here in the evening to see how it changes.

This RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL (1903-1912) is one of the most beautiful ever built outside of Russia, similar to St. Basel's in Moscow. The interior is ornate and exotic, and includes items commemorating the Grand Duke Nicolas Alexandrovitch who died in Nice in 1865.
