The city gate
Mdina is a 3000-year-old city, it was once the political center of Malta.
Co-Cathedral on St. Paul Square
It was built in 1697, replacing a smaller church which was destroyed by an earthquake in 1693. It shares the cathedral status with St. John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta.
One of the aristocratic palaces in the "silent city"
There are many aristocratic Maltese families who still live in town.
Mdina is called the "silent city" because its streets are open for pedestrians only and the lack of traffic leaves it silent.
