The Astronomical Clock on Old Town Square
Prague is one of my favorite cities. On the one hand, I find some similarities between Prague and Budapest, the city I live in. They are both situated on the two banks of a river, on one side there's the castle and the surrounding areas, and the rest of the city lies on the other side of the river. The two cities also share many of the occurences of history.
On the other hand, Prague is smaller, more intimate, and it has a unique atmosphere. And as opposed to Budapest, Prague was luckily spared from the atrocities of the 2nd World War and thus its beautiful sites remain intact.
The view of Prague Castle and Charles Bridge.
My favorite district of Prague is Mala Strana, or the so-called "Lesser Town." It was founded in 1257 on the slopes bellow the Prague castle and it is the part of the city which is the least affected by resent history. Just cross the river on Charles Bridge and you immediately find yourself in a unique part of the town.

The bridge was completed in 1400 and it connects the old town with the Lesser Town. There's a beautiful Gothic style Old Town Bridge Tower at one end, also built in the 14th century.
Nowadays, Charles Bridge is for pedestrians only, and there are many artists and musicians along the bridge - once I bought a small picture there and it's still one of my most favorites.

Remek kis oldal! Én március 16-án megyek először életemben oda. Már nagyon várom. Köszi a tippeket, és igazad van, hogy nem mindig a jól bejárt útvonalakat kell követni. A kis mellékutcák (Pesten is) mindig sok meglepetést tartogatnak.
