The origins of this fortress date back to around 1000 B.C., when a Celtic fortified refuge existed on this site.
The fortress is the symbol of Wurzburg and served as a home of the prince-bishops for nearly five centuries.
Alte Mainbruecke - the old bridge, now for pedestrians only, was built in the 15th century.
Haus zum Falken - the Baroque mansion was formerly an inn, now it houses the Tourist Information Center.

Nice pics!
I am an American soldier. I lived close to this Hotel in Wurzburg. Iwas ,also, stationed in Taszar, Hungary. I performed at a Hangarian/American 4th of July festival in Kaposvar in 1998. Ever hear of this festival?
Thank you for the great pictures of Wurtzburg. I especially loved the pictures of Marienberg. For an entire year that was the view out my window. It was always different however depending upon the sky.
