The churros in La 4 Esquinos Café are the best in Nerja. The hot chocolate is divine, extremely thick and chocolately. The coffee is pretty good too.
This café is well used by Spanish locals and Spanish tourists providing a noisy but great atmosphere.
It's also very cheap. The churros are served up to 12.00 noon.
Favorite Dish: Churros and hot chocolate.
Address: Junction of Calles Pintada, Angustias and Arropier
Comparison: least expensive
Directions: About 5-10 minutes walk up from Balcon.
Price: less than US$10

The Restaurant is part of the Hotel Carabeo and is about two minutes walk from theBalcon de Europa. I would describe the food as International.
The starters and desserts are excellent, the main courses less so but still good. There is a good wine list and cocktail menu.
The staff are first class, extremely pleasant and attentive, and the surroundings great, you can choose tables from inside, on the terrace or in the garden (bookings essential). It is expensive by local standards, probably most expensive in Nerja. Our meal for two, in 2005, with three courses, a good bottle of wine, one beer, two mineral waters, two coffees and a cocktail was approx. 88 Euros.
Sometimes there is guitarist playing Flamenco music and there is also a bettter class of strolling buskers who drop in.
It is a good choice for a special meal.
Closed on Mondays.

The Codfather serves British style fish and chips but in a Spanish style cafe setting. It has seating outside as well as inside and a there is a bar, you don't get that in the UK
Paper tablecloth and knapkins but the fish and chips are great. Can't comment on anything else as that's all we had.
Regular cod and chips in May 2005 were 7.90 Euros per portion.
Favorite Dish: Cod and chips, great taste.

Little Seafood Place
This is a little chiringutio on Torrox-Costa promenade. Nothing fancy but great food., fish grilled on open fire. They also serve paella for one which can be dificult to find.
Very Spanish looking, waiter/owner has reasonable English. English menu available.
Favorite Dish: Fried anchovies

Interior of Restaurant
Excellent Chinese restaurant on promenade in Torrox-Costa. If you have a car, it's well worth coming here to this fairly recently opened place. The food is great, and there is little extra flourishes like vegetable carved as birds. Interior is large and pleasant.
Favorite Dish: Pescado con Salsa Picant, fish with spicy sauce.

La Taberna del Sacristan is a lovely restaurant right in the centre of Frigiliana right in front of the church. There is outside seating in the Plaza with a view of the church front.
The food is excellent and the staff are very good. The menu is in English as well as Spanish and the waiters speak good English.
In the evening, it is a lovely place to have dinner. It is also open at Lunchtime. This is my favourite restaurant. It is dearer than average but not exceedingly so. Our last meal for two with three courses, water, house wine and coffee came to just under 60 Euros.
The female diners always get a flower on leaving.
Favorite Dish: They have a great grilled vegetable selection for starters and the fish dishes are good. All main courses are served with a baked potato.

Pleasant little cafe to have breakfast at with outside seating. Its attraction is that it has hot chocolate and churros, both delicious and a popular breakfast or mid-morning snack for Spaniards.
Favorite Dish: Churros. Churros are made from dough extruded into thin tubes, these have a star shaped cross section and are several inches long. Deep fried to form loops and coated in sugar and dipped in a bowl of hot chocolate they make for a sublime start to the day that is hard to improve on.

Great View of Sea
Only had lunch here of omelettes which was good so can't really comment on food but the view from the terrace is great. It's big and it overlooks the sea and other than large umbrellas over the tables, the sunshine has an unrestricted path to you.
There's a proper restaurant inside but on the terrace there's a little bar you can sit round as well. Drink prices are average.
Favorite Dish: The view

View from the Table
A popular restaurant overlooking the beach at Playa Torrecilla. There are outside seats on the promenade and seating inside but still with good view of beach. The food is better than you would expect from its location close to the beach and more Spanish than international. Lunch for two including sangria was generally less than 30 Euros, reasonably priced as this was for fish dishes.
The waiters are very quick in fact one usually runs from kitchen to table. Also good spot to have coffee or a drink and ogle people on the beach. One of the days we were there, there was a mobile massage centre on the beach with staff from nearby hotel's health centre.
Favorite Dish: Merluza a la Romana
Address: C/Playa Torrecilla
