I never expected that i will visit Toronto sooner than I expected. I was sent by my company there to attend a 2 day seminar. The location though is not around downtown but at east york which I think about 30 minutes train ride. With the power of google map, I manage to see some of Toronto's pride.
I fell in love with Toronto, the first city I ever visited outside Winnipeg. It's a vibrant city and alive. It's like a place where one can work hard and at the same time have a life. Lots of restaurant, malls, bars etc. I think there's so much to do here. If ever I will change city I might move to Toronto for now , never seen other cities yet.
On the first day after my seminar I targeted the CN tower coz I want to capture Toronto at night. I hurriedly change my business attire to casual and took my DSLR camera bag and tripod then started the pleasure after the business.
I am a bit worried coz I really dont know how to go there but the map guided me right on the spot. I just took 2 subway trains and then walk towards the CN Tower from Union station.
It's chilly and windy but it didn't stopmy plans. It has to be done. I ignored the unfriendly wind.
I am not really into heights but I have to conquer my fear. I am nervous the moment i stepped inside the elevator that will bring us to the observation deck. I cant look down and when I saw some buildings getting smaller I closed my eyes.
I cant walk normally at first seems like the tower will collapse but when I was acclimated on the surroundings I started taking photos. I love it. The scene was perfect I am like a firefly hungry for lights.
The skypod is a much smaller deck much much higher than the observation deck and I went there but I cant take it I was so weak to move and cant walk normally I just took a quick photo and went down to the bigger observation deck. The smaller space made me feel like it's not safe but it's actually safe I just cant take it.
My VT friends asked me to jump in the glass floor , I though I can do it but upon seeing it and the things under it, I changed my mind lol. I just stayed on a glass pane at the edge.
Meeting a long lost friend
After the second day of my seminar, I had the chance to meet my long lost high school friend from the Philippines. He migrated to Canada 1998 and we never seen each other since. He picked me up from the venue and changed my clothes once more and he agreed to accompany me to the Centre island, drive around downtown and dinner at Brewers. Too bad, he cant stay much longer coz he will be working. Time is not enough to exchange stories. He's Tagalog is now slang but still I am happy that he still embraces the Filipino food and culture. He's still watching Filipino channel as well. I even see a Philippine flag sticker at the back of his car. Till next time.
I should have a nightlife to any places I go, my journey wouldn't be complete without one. I walked along Dundas, college and Yonge street to try some food and booze.
Its weekdays but still bars are busy serving lots of guests their favorite drink. I had a martini-tequila and 4 glasses of Vodka tonic. I had so much fun. It's really exciting to be in a place you have never been and exploring it by yourself.
What I like most about this trip was I met new good friends.
I will definitely go back and this time all pleasure no business. Soon.
I told you I will go back and I did after a month from my first visit. This time all pleasure at the same time to get a US visa which I don't have any problem on acquiring.
I explored most part of the city during the day and took pictures of some historical buildings and wandered around at night to see more nightlife. I went to the Canada Wonderland as wellT and Niagara Falls as side trip. Toronto has so much to offer from restaurants, shopping malls, nightlife etc. It is not hard to explore a simple map will come handy . It's a very busy city that I like.

Thanks for the virtual tour, Jeff. I saw far too little of Toronto on the two occasions that I stayed here, so it is good to read up on it on your page :)
Jeff, you've added beautiful information about Toronto on your Toronto's page. The pictures are also splendid and the descriptions are also fascinating. Like you I also wish to be there in Toronto one day. Anyway, your page is superb and informative for me. Thanks for sharing.
