"Belmont Shore: Charming Beach Community! Nighttime" Belmont Shore by WudaGirl

Belmont Shore Travel Guide: 4 reviews and 4 photos

Fun For Every Personality Type...Honest!

Forget the Queen Mary (the usual Long Beach tourist recommendation)! Just a few scenic miles along the coast from industrial downtown Long Beach lies Belmont Shore, a hidden jewel of Long Beach. It's mainly a bedroom community with only one "main" street (2nd Street) running through its center. Belmont Shore is a terrific option for daytime shopping or relaxing and/or nighttime clubbing and dining. Along 2nd Street, you can do it all. Try people watching, or if you're feeling bolder than that, meeting new people. The locals here are quintessential Southern Californian Beach Types and are amongst the friendliest around. You can do either while sipping gourmet coffee, a fresh fruit smoothie, or a cocktail (I suggest trying a "Shoot The Root" an invigorating shot of root beer schnapps following immediately by an ice cold beer). Good if you're barely 21 (California's drinking age) or a few decades beyond. You can also poke in and out of more than a dozen eccletic boutiques and artsy shops, and even paint and fire your own ceramic work of art at Color Me Mine, a cool little spot with very reasonable (hourly) painting fees -- they'll even let you bring in your own refreshments, including alcohol. After sunset, especially on the weekends, Belmont Shore comes to life with people seeking nightlife...and they don't have to look far. Second Street is also dotted with small pubs and bars, as well as several larger ones. Many feature live music from rock to jazz to folk. Even one of the Starbuck's here (incredibly there are two, despite the Shore's tiny size) features hippyesque guitar performers on the weekend. A good time is always to be had on The Shore, day or night, rain or shine.
