In November 2010 while busy panning a trip to the London Maratahon, I noticed that the 2011 Paris Marathon would take place on my 35th birthday, a week before the London Marathon. I immediately changed plans and booked the trip to Paris.
My friends and family thought i was crazy! You'd think by now they know me well enough not to make a big deal of my holiday choices. "So you are planning on running a marathon on your birthday!?", "you are going to Paris to run a marathon! Are you mad?", "alone in Paris, just so you can run a Marathon on your birthday!?".
The marathon sold me, but since I had 9 days to spend there, I had a little more than just the marathon planned.

Running a marathon on your birthday sounds like a great idea. And especially in Paris!
