""Disappearing Stick"" Battambang by aukjejetty

In Battambang I spent most of my time at a school on the outskirts of the city. Phare is a school where the khmer traditional arts are flourishing. On the schools compound is a regular school, musicclasses, acrobatics classes, traditional dancing and art.

Battambang means ‘disappearing stick’, and is named after a powerful stick used by a legendary Khmer king to achieve and maintain power in the Battambang area. One of Battambangs roundabout at the east gate has an enormous statue of Ta Dambong in the center holding Bat Dambong (the disappearing stick). The city itself is laid back and because of its small size, easy to explore on foot.

Aukje, I like the way you participate in local culture and help us to do it also.
