I was lucky to be able to live in Maastricht for about 1/2 of a year!
What I noticed is how many tourists stopped -- especially on weekends --- and that is a clear indication of how worthy this town is of a visit.
But it was a fascinating place to live. I could easily enjoy living in Maastricht again. And I have one friend who visits Maastricht frequently -- and is there even as I wrote this |
| | What is there to like in this city and this region MY TOP DOZEN 1. walking down cobblestone streets daily 2. Churches built from 1100 to 1600 3. the city wall 4. the beauty of the old section of town with small streets and the small Jeker river 5. wonderful small cafes to quench your thirst, feed your hunger, or warm you with coffee 6. sitting outside at most cafes 7. friendly people 8. bells chiming at least every hour 9. wonderful cheese (Dutch, French, German, and more) 10. the availability of good Belgian beer 11. wonderful bread 12. ease of shopping + busses + trains |
| | Carnaval 2005 I was lucky to live here during Carnaval! It was a great time to see so many people so colorfully dressed. |
