As soon as October rolled around some members of VT Pilipinas started talking about organizing another VT Christmas Party. They had fond memories of the previous year's Party (capital letter intended). Emails flew back and forth as the members reminisced about the fun they had and how much they missed the members who were not always readily available for meets during the year. New members were also interested in having a repeat of the party as they had gotten curious about the "missing" members.
After much discussion about dates and time, Barbie was, as she puts it, "forced" to post an invitation to the VT Pilipinas Annual Christmas Party in the Travel Forum. Posts came fast and furious as we explored the different options we can go to celebrate Christmas VT style. Several pages later it was decided that to make this celebration more meaningful, we should share whatever we can with the lolas at the Golden Acres (GA).
A lot of VT members answered our call for help to make the activity at GA possible. Members from the Philippines and elsewhere in the world opened their hearts for this cause. Utchie was tasked to contact the management of Golden Acres and to get the wish list for the lolas. After which she and Winnie volunteered to buy the items (they suffered backache and Winnie even had to go to the spa!) from the contributions from VT members pooled through Cess who acted as our resident "banker". And as the plans were finalized, VT management got a wind of it and was generous enough to give us their support and Stephanie sent us a VT banner, luggage tags and stickers.
VT member dcmanicad designed a special logo for this activity. Everyone loved his design that all agreed that it will continue to be used in all upcoming VT Pilipinas activities.

|  | Last minute wrapping Utchie and Winnie bought and organized the loot bags weeks prior the GA activity but more stuff needed to be put into the bags so that Tham, Yen and Cess opened them again to rewrap the housedresses and distribute the additional loot. :) |

4. pressed powder
5. comb

7. a little shampoo
8. toothpaste
but other than the loot bags, we bought spygmomanometer (sp?) and stethoscope, medicines (requested by GA staff) and house dresses. VA dd-- sent flowers which went over great with the ladies...
We were able to give these things to the lolas because of the generosity of a lot of VT members (list kidnapped from Cess summation @ the GA thread). Thanks to:

It's a few hours before the start of our Outreach Activity at the Golden Acres, a home for seniors. The final preparations are almost over. As Scarlet and Edwin are marking down the time, we are running through our list of must dos to make sure that we are not missing anything. :)
1. VA IDs - Check!

In the morning, there were more VAs than actual attendees that we had to double them up. I keep catching the lolas and their caregivers glancing in askance at the things hanging on our necks. One of them even touched the VA ID of PALS that was hanging on my neck.
The party started slowly and gained momentum after 5:00 p.m. The number of people in the venue crested and ebbed as the night drew on. Members came in after work and others dropped by on their way to work. Some of them even came in in between company parties (leaving their friends sleeping in the car while they touched base with us).
Looking at our registry, twenty-eight (28) people signed in but those who came in late failed to sign the registry because we were all too excited to see them. :) Friends, thank you for coming to the party and sharing your stories with us:
