The wonderful "Middle East"

by suroor2001 - last update: Sep 11, 2002

I have always been very interested in he Middle ..it has always facinated me, since I was a child..the music the color..the warmth..and the mystery all enticed me.

So over time I have gained friends from the Middle East..

Since I bought my computer..everything started to fall into place..I was invited to have a holiday in Jordan...Of course I was so overjoyed.like a kid..

The journey to Amman was very hectic and tiring..as it took me neally 24 hrs..to actually arrive at the Airport..including the waiting time at Heathrow..but it was all worth it...as you will see...

I arrived at 12.30am with my friends to pick me up..we went through the desert...it was so lovely...and I was so tired..but I had a new spurt of energy..as I did not wan,t to miss anything..

The next day my firends took me to the Souk (Market) to buy some tee shirts...I bought three for 1 dinar..about $2.50 Canadian. Later we all went to Mcdonalds. The Kids loved it.

I swam in the Red Sea everyday at Aqaba..and I could see Israel and Egypt, from the shore...I smoked the Shisha (waterpipe) and I loved it..it was so relaxing..

The following day we all floated in the Dead Sea.. as I suppose you know that is all that one can do..as the water content is 30% salt, and no living creature can live in it..the temperature there was 44 celcius it was hot!!!..had to take a shower along the shore to get the salt off us.

Next day I wrode a camel on the Wadi Rum..that was an experience in itself..and had mint tea with the bedoins..stayed till night where we all danced around the fire..where there was arabic music playing..and dancing..and when it all died down..you could hear the soft echoes all around...

I did take in a few more places ..Jerash..the Roman ruins..and Salt..which is just a few miles from Amman..
and we saw a belly dancing..and a pop band there..

All in all it was the most excilerating experience of my life and cannot wait to go again...taking in Egypt next time..

Thanks for listening..
