Fort Port Royal

History records the hardship suffered here and the fight against the English from Virginia in 1613 sacked the habitation and burnt it down.

This Fort was protected by earth mounds because cannon balls did little damage and no danger of fire to the walls

THE FORT

A historical Canadian Site. In 1605--1607 a fur trading post for the French with the Micmac indians. Along story of disaster for the French
Samuel de Champlain, explorer and cartographer. suggested this site to his compatriots who the winter of 1604 had installed themselves on Sainte-Croix island where nearly half of the settlers died of cold and scurvy.
