------Ottawa is the Capital of Canada. POPULATION-1,170,000.( before adding the suburbs.) It is one of the largest cities in Canada at the moment as it has joined all the suburbs to it. Montreal has now done the same. --there are more than 1,000 ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES( now with problems), who use to employ over 74,000 workers. Example--NORTEL NETWORKS ( now in deep financial trouble) ALCATEL, S.A. MITEL Corp., J.D.S.UNIPHASE and COREL Corp. among the biggest. They produce over 17 BILLION Canadian.Dollars worth of goods of which 90 percent is exported outside of the area.

THE CITY IS RATED THE 6th in the WORLD for quality of life. Canada is rated 7th .

Visitors from around the world come to visit the ornate halls of the Parliament Buildings and the GOVERNOR GENERALS RESIDENCE, The WORLD CLASS MUSEUMS, Galleries and ENTERTAINMENT venues.

It has the longest SKATING RINK in the world (on the Rideau Canal),(Joliette where I live must be second 9 KM. long) the largest display of TOTEM POLES.

YOU can soar above the city in a BIPLANE, bike along it's 150 KM. of recreational Paths that run along Rivers through parks and lead to most major attractions.
