In our visit to Sierra Leone our best experience was a visit to Banana Island. A lush green tropical island with 2 volcanic mountains rising sharply from the sea. The island is tiny and the village tinier, but thanks to our host Dalton we have made the most out of it. Dalton is a local fisherman that also runs what it well may be " the most inspiring beach resort in West Africa". Don't expect any luxuries though... As you can imagine, Dalton was THE person to take us fishing and exploring the untouched beaches of the island. In his restoraunt you had tones of fish lobsters and huge crabs for a fraction of the price we would pay in Freetown. The rooms were simple but clean and cost 10 US for the double making it an absolute bargain.
Unique Qualities: The host himself is a warm character and the best possible seaman to guide you around the prestine waters. The location of the guest house is right on a secluded beach and the menue is FRESH fish
