Where My Heart Remains!!

People say Italians can make living with the ancestors' remnants only. After travelling several cities in Italy in August of 1992 and again in September 1996, I knew why. They preserved the cultural heritage really well and so many people from all over the world are visiting Italy to see them. I think even Rome itself is like a huge living museum!

Besides the Tourism, Italy is also famous for Fashion. I could find the many inspirational heritage of the world famous Italian fashion designers while travelling. Surely colored marbles and Duomo in Firenze reminds us works of Missoni, Vivid colors and solar image sculptures reminds us Versace, and much more. Even look at the shirts of the businessmen in Italy, I never seen a single man wearing a white shirt during my entire trip. I am sure that naturally they are very much good at colors.

Pizza and Pasta are another famous thing from Italy. I am sure that you will find Pizzeria in almost every nation in the world. Even though real Italian pizza is a lot different from the American pizza such as Pizza Hut and Pizza Inn, they have surely conquered the world with their food! I personally prefer the real Italian style pizza. So it adds more pleasure to our travel to Italy.

Another famous one of Italy? Surely the Mapia. But be careful not to confront even one of them! Then, you are in a big trouble!!!=)

And pickpockets, pocketpicking gypsies and robber in the night train is also notorious! I myself had experienced the robbery in the night train from Naples to Taormina, Sisley. I think they are really professionals. I was the only one sleeping in that room in the train and I think they(? he?) used gas gun or something since I couldn't wake up even though I hear the slaming sound of the door. Anyway robber took all the cash - Lira, US dollar & Korean won even in the deep inside of the travel wallet and left all the credit cards and passport. (At least I was lucky to keep Passport and credit cards, huh?) Most lamentable lost item is the camera. Inside, there were photos taken from Capri!!! Alas!!! So, I only have a few photos of beautiful Capri. That's a real pity. -_-; Besides me, I have heard so many stolen stories in the night train and do you know what? Most notorious one is the line from Naples to Sisley. Humm... Never again, huh?

And anything else? Hey, guys are really handsome in there! But I think that northern Italian guys are more handsome. I don't know why but south and north people look so different! I also have heard that they don't like each other, too! Northern Italians think that they are feeding the people from southern Italy as well. That's because most of industry are centered in northern part. So they think they are the one who brings in money to the family. And southern Italians complaining that they are less benefitted since everything is in northern Italy. Europe is unified as an EU, however even within one country, there are so many conflicts! That's the way we live perhaps?

In Italy, I have been to Milan, Pisa, Firenze, Rome, Venezia, Verona, Capri and Taormina. And besides Milan and Pisa where I have spent only several hours, I love Capri best. It's so romantic place. Whole island has somewhat spiral structure and all the roads, houses and interiors are covered with tiles. If you are into upscale shopping, then you should go to Milan and Rome!!

Characteristics of Italians are so similar to Koreans. We both are hot in temper and having a very intimate and warm-hearted relationship once you became friends. It is said that it is due to our geographical features, Peninsula. So, we both have a peninsula characteristics in our personality. =) So according to this theory, islanders have also the similar characteristics such as UK and Japan. I am not sure of 100% of this theory, but I think that there is something I can agree with.

And if you are looking for a guidebook, I would like to recommend Lonely Planet. I think it's the best about the information!

Well, have a look at the places I have been in Italy!!!
