"Let's be not only a part of the world..." julia79's Profile

Sometimes I just examine closely people...

and wonder how they live. They are so different and so alike.

My name is Julia. I live in Sofia, Bulgaria. I am 29 years old, but I feel younger :) I used to study Slavic Philology at the Sofia University, but in fact I work in the field of construction. You can't know what would happen tomorrow :) Sometimes I just want to travel and meet people I don't know. I'd like to learn new things about different cultures and I'll be happy to be your friend. Nice to meet you, guys! :)

I love my friends

I really love my friends. I never feel lonely because they are always with me-in my mind, in my soul and in sad and good moments. I also love my family and my cat. In fact, people around me make my world beautiful and full of emotions :)

Bulgaria

I live in Bulgaria. The Republic of Bulgaria is in the Balkans. The First Bulgarian Empire was created in the year of 681. It covered most of the Balkans and spread its alphabet, language, culture and literature among the Slavic and other Eastern Europe peoples.
Bulgaria is a beautiful country. The interesting history left a lot of monuments, buildings, architecture, museums and churches.
Here you can read details about my country, its history, population, relief, mineral resources, hydrography, climate, politics, military and other interesting texts about the country.

As you'll notice in my VT pages, I like my country. I like small towns and villages, beautiful nature and really enjoy going there. I love towns like Tryavna, Koprivshtica.I also like the old capital of Bulgaria-Veliko Tarnovo. I think you'll be in love with my country if you visit it.

Some unique facts about Bulgaria, maybe things you don't know:

Oil-bearing rose-Bulgarian treasure
One of things that made Bulgaria famous in the centuries, is the oil-bearing rose. It was brought to the Balkans in 12th century from Damascus and its name is Rosa Damascena, famous in Bulgaria as Kazanlashka Rose. The technology for its cultivation is taught from Persia and India. The Bulgarian producers increased the quantity and improve the product quality. This is the reason the Bulgarian rose oil to be famous from the beginning of 13th Century all over the world. To the end of the Second World War there are 88 rose installations in Bulgaria.

Fire-dancers
This is a Bulgarian and Greek custom. People dance barefoot on a live coals. This custom is alive in a village of the Strandja mountain-Bulgari. Well, you can see this tourist attraction somewhere in Bulgaria. It is really very impressive.

Koukeri
Koukeri are Bulgarian carnival figures-men dressed like wild animals or other characters, always wearing masks on their heads. They dance on the streets, so they frighten the bad ghosts and cold. Only men take part in this carnival.

If you plan a trip to Bulgaria, you should definitely visit the following places:
Veliko Tarnovo-the old capital of Bulgaria
Triavna
Koprivshtica
Varna
Gabrovo
Plovdiv
Rila Monastery
Rojen Monastery
Troian Monastery
The 7 Rila lakes
and I'll add other interesting places here later :)

Sofia... my dear Sofia...

Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria, but I don't like it. To be honest, me and Sofia have a strange relationship. When I leave Sofia I am happy-I hate crowded places and these places make me sick. But when me and Sofia are not together we are sad and we suffer for each other;) I am always glad to go home.

I like to travel

Although I have a strong relationship with Sofia, I like to leave her sometimes and visit other interesting places. I am a lucky person-my friends like the same. They are ready to come with me and even choose the destination:) I have to tell you that there are many beautiful places to visit in Bulgaria.

My future trip plans

I always make plans where to go. Sometimes I wish I were more impulsive, but maybe it's a matter of character:) So, my plans for traveling abroad this year (2009) are simple, but full of emotions and expectations.
First I'm going to visit England again, and it will happen in the beginning of May. No particular plans, going to stay in Brighton again, and I hope I'll have a chance to travel there.
The second foreign destination for 2009 will be Turkey (maybe in September). As I am a patriot and love my country very much, I just can't forgive the tourist branch for destroying the Bulgarian tourism. It's really a very painful topic for me, but the last few summer vacations spent in Bulgaria were full of negative emotions, so I'll try to change my ideas of a good vacation. My plan is to go to Turkey, Antalya.

Well, these are my plans for traveling abroad this year, no time for more:) I hope to visit some places in Bulgaria too. I plan to visit the Belogradchik Rocks, The 7 Rila Lakes and other places.
