"The Beauty of South Africa" a South Africa Travel Page by summeroff

In 2002, I was listening to a radio station from South Africa on the computer. I was working late and exploring radio stations to find something different to keep me motivated. I listened for many minutes as I completed my work and found myself returning to that station between 6-7 PM to listen to the DJ. Needless to say, I fell in love with the accent of the DJ and knew it was a place I wanted to visit.

In March of 2003, our school was having an auction to raise money for the school. While browsing through the item book, I found the 7 day photo safari to South Africa. I knew it was a sign! At the auction, I made a few bids and once the trip was over my limit, I had to stop bidding. A parent at the other table, knew I was a teacher at the school and that I wanted the trip. She encouraged me to keep bidding and she would pay the amount over my limit. Needless to say, I purchased the trip with the help of this generous parent. So my first trip to Africa was in July of 2004 with my mother for her 60th birthday!

We spent two weeks traveling to South Africa and a trip to Victoria Falls in Zambia. While in South Africa, we spent time in Johannesburg, Zulu Nala Game Reserve, and Cape Town. It was better than I could imagine, especially the week at the game reserve. The animals, food, and culture was different than anything I had ever experienced!
