What a wonderful experience as we climbed the many stairs of the wall to look out over the countryside and suddenly hear the bells chime their Sunday call to worship.
Oh we were told to go left as the stairs are spaced better in that direction.
Later we found a place to enjoy a meal with others on the tour and then strolled along the waterfront. The sky was clear and the water blue.
We flew into Dubrovnik some 5 weeks before we returned by sea on the cruise ship "Seabourn Odyssey"
The old town was now busier ...end June and hotter. No climbing the walls today.
We had a different perspective from the sea and as we sailed away the lights of the town twinkled "Good bye".
If we had left by road we would have needed our passports to pass through Bosnia Hercegovnia as the only road access to the rest of Croatia at the moment is through this country.
So have a peek at my restaurant tip and se me eating mussels for the first time.

I would love to visit Dubrovnik, I have so many friends from this city, who had to leave during the war.
How nice of that man at the next table to give you a demo on how to eat mussels.
What a nice photo, Ol Town Dubrovnik, we were there in 2005. We stayed on the peninsula, approx 300 metres from your hotel, which at that time was the premier hotel on the penisula.
It seems as if you like the mussels instead of sweetness, do you?
Aren't the views from Dubrovnik gorgeous. You must have had a great time on your cruise and the trip around Croatia!

Marg, lovley little page with brilliant photos here. I really like Dubrovnik as well, but agree that it can be very overcrowded at times.

Great that you walked the wall! I couldn't as I got very sick up there and had to go back down. Just bad timing! Other than that I liked the old town of Dubrovnik in the evening when the streets were near empty.
I was in Malaga at this time; wish I could hv bn w u in Dubrovnik!
