"Rouen" Rouen by jseabourne

My friend and I went on a Rivera Travel tour to Normandy. We travelled on Eurostar to Paris and then were taken by coach to Rouen. Based at Rouen we were taken to several places in Normandy. It was a bit of a whistle stop tour but was a great introduction to the region.

We were based very close to the church and the place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake. The church is a fabulous building and it is well worth visiting just for the wonderful stained glass windows. The rest of the church is a modern design but I thought it fitted in perfectly with the old architecture.
Everything of interest for a tourist was within walking distance.
Outside of the historic parts, there were designer shops such as Hermes, and other big names and we enjoyed pressing our noses to the windows!
We did not get the chance to see the industrial parts of Rouen along the river as our trip was so short but I think there is a lot more to explore than we got around to.

There is a great selection of restaurants all at different prices and the food is wonderful. Everywhere we ate, the food was outstanding and we did not have lots of money to eat in top class restaurants. Even a baguette at lunchtime was one of the best I have ever tasted and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
