| | The hearth of Provence, Aix-en-Provence is a beautiful city. Enjoy the terrasses, the restaurents, the museums,...
It's the home of Cézanne, the artist, he captured the light and almost the smells and sounds of the surrounding countryside.
As mentioned in my France homepage, I chose Aix-en-Provence as my Provence anchor city. The Provence region is located South of France and North of the Côte d'Azur.
From Aix-en-Provence, you have an infinite number of day trip you can do in a radius of 100-200 kilometers. I suggest that you play 'Connect the dots' with a couple of 'dots' on your itinerary, and drive at random trying to find them, and don't be afraid to take your time.
The region grows olives, herbs, lavander and vines. The climate can be surprisingly hot even warmer than South locations. Because of all this, the Provence people like to take their time, drink a little wine, put tomatoes, herbs and garlic everywhere and enjoy a little nap in the afternoon listening to the cigale (cicada) and crickets.
I love the place!! |
