Le Palais de Versailles I don't think a typical traveler would miss it when traveling to Paris. But it is far out of the way. This is the king's home outside of Paris. Walk the grounds, the gardens (if you are lucky or well informed you might catch the fountain spectacle), the palace itself is beautiful but pricy to visit (you know if that stuff interest you enough), etc... Plan to spend the day. To get there : Taking the RER is the only way to go. You avoid parking charges and won't get lost! Review my Versailles travelogues for the fountains.

You have my favorite things listed in my favorite city! A perfect day in Paris is strolling the Musee Rodin, a nap in le Jardin du Luxembourg, ice cream from Berthillon, and a sunset cruise down the Seine. Now as far as Paris by night? Oooh La La... ;-) |
