Tours is nice, you can spend a day or two max to visit the city. You should circle the countryside to visit the Loire valley and its surroundings.
As mentioned in my France homepage, I chose Tours as my Loire anchor city. The Tours region is located South-West of Paris.
It is a magnificent region, with wavy countryside along the Loire river, populated by numerous well known castles owned by kings, ducs, their concubines or mistresses. It was the vacation area for nobles from Paris. We can still feel this even now. |
