For the ancient Egyptians, Abydos was what Mecca is for nowadays Muslims. One had to get there at least once in his/her lifetime.
According to the legend, this is where the head of Osiris was placed.
A splendid temple, beautifully preserved. This place allows one to "travel into time" and feel the ancient gods.
Remember the prophecy of Thoth±
`0 Egypt, Egypt, of thy religion nothing will remain but an empty tale, which thine own children in time to come will not believe; nothing will be left but graven words, and only the stones will tell of thy piety.`
This is very true, as far as I am concerned...
- Pros:The temple is almost intact. Very beautiful. See the `helicopter`
- Cons:Only about 2 hours to visit when traveling with the convoy.
