"Jumping Around Wupatki's Sunset Crater Volcano!" Wupatki National Monument by jumpingnorman

Wupatki National Monument Travel Guide: 76 reviews and 337 photos

My Son jumps just like myself, hehehe

Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki National Monuments are reached via US 89 --- unbelievable that there were lava flows here 800 years ago!

We always pass by this area when we visit Winslow (Meteor Crater), or more recently when we went to Monument Valley (June 2009).

The Navajo families settled in the Wupatki area, brining in the sheep to the land --- you still could see these sheep when you drive through US 89!

The two monuments - Sunset Crater Volcano and the Wupatki - are just separated by a 35 mile loop-road (entrances being 12 miles and 26 miles north of Flagstaff, respectively). they are both open daily except Dec 25 --- and hours vary by season...so check first before you head off there!

It would have been really interesting to have a look at the Sunset Crater Volcano! Thanks Norman for the short tour there.

Oh so Cool! You got to see this place. Told myself the next time we are going to stay in Flagstaff and explore these wonderful ruins! Great page!
