Blue Whale diving down in Husavik, Iceland

I saw a BLUE WHALE!

As I was uploading the Blue Whale picture on June 12, 2009 and just a 10-month member of VT,
I just had my 12,000th visitor on VT !!!
(I joined VT on late August 2008 while on vacation in Norway
and have humbly accepted being Rookie #1 continuously since February 2009)...

...and Number 12,000 is my good friend from California, Larry -
better known as the entertaining VTer travelgourmet !
Thanks, Larry and I am dedicating this Blue Whale to you!

Later, Larry said it was so appropriate because he has been
wearing a Wyland whale's tail pendant every day to save the whales since 1991!

We saw this blue whale in Húsavík, a little town known for being one of the best whale-watching places in the world (actually the best in Europe)!

We were so lucky! A Blue Whale is a very good find (it is the biggest animal ever!) and we followed it for about 45 minutes...it also had an unusual yellowish back which is rare on a blue whale which is normally blue-grey.

Husavik is located on the Eastern Shore of Skjálfandi-bay with the scenic Kinnarfjöll mountains across the bay.

Watching the sealife then eating seafood...sounds good to me. I'm dissapointed you didn't try to whale ride...you look so adventurous...lol
