I have passed through New Mexico several times during my cross-country drives but never really stopped --- all I did was drive through a blizzard once at only 5 miles per hour on I-40, and then at another time, I think I had a haircut in a small barbershop in Albuquerque…
But now in April 2009, on a roadtrip with my family, I decided to explore this state more – and share my trip here on Virtual Tourist. |
| An alien autopsy at Roswell, New Mexico |
| | This state has so much to offer! It is called the Land of Enchantment – and no kidding…it is truly enchanting! The mix of the cultures of the Indians, Spaniards and Americans have resulted in the state having an astounding 250+ public and private museums and monuments – No wonder the aliens decided to land here in Roswell, hehehe (actually, they crashed).
Did you know that the first atomic explosion was at the Trinity Site in New Mexcio in July 16, 1945. |
| Fort Marcy Hill/Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico |
| | The geography of New Mexico is likewise amazing…there’s only a few states that can boast of six of the seven life zones on earth. High altitude mountains, 13 National Monuments and Parks, 22 State Parks, and 5 National Forests and at least 12 ski areas! |
