Jumping Around in Alaska with my Jumping Sister!

by jumpingnorman - last update: May 9, 2009

Thank you to our spouses for letting us do this!

The Jumping siblings are on a glacier in Alaska!
So, my sister (VTer jumpingwithnorman) and myself left our families in Arizona and San Jose, California, to explore Alaska on our very own jumping adventure! It just so happened that this year, 2009, is the year Alaska is celebrating its 50th year of statehood!

Landing on a glacier is just one of the highlights in this trip...

Alaska is just so beautiful, we have done so much already (and we still "will" as I am writing this - my sister just collapsed on her hotel bed here in Anchorage after hiking on a mountain full of bears).... it was so dangerous!

The glaciers have a bluish hue....

There were bluish pools on the glaciers...

My sister and I were supposed to stay with our good friend Mona Lisa who is a travelling doctor here in Alaska..but she is stuck in Kansas City right now - so I just wore my thick Kansas City Chiefs jacket for Mona Lisa so that she's like here with us...enjoying Alaska!

With sister after we hiked Bird Creek Trail!

Alaska is truly awesome!!!

What's that rustle in the forest? A bear!!! Yikes!

It is soooo wild here...we were driving and a bald eagle flew over us and spread it's wings right on our car window --- it did not look real!

The very first animal I saw was a huge RAT that was crossing the road --- RAT is good luck in Chinese...and indeed, the weather here is perfect right now. They say this one of the warmest springs ever...nice and bright, sunny and light...

I wonder what we are going to do tomorrow? I think we will go on a boat cruise somewhere and see some elks, moose...we already saw seals today on floating chunks of ice while we were doing the helicopter ride.

This is really one great place and I think it will take me some time to build my VT pages on Alaska...sigh...

Sounds like you had a great time. We tried to analize droppings on trail once as well, never did know what they were from, at least we didn't run into a Bear!

An interesting place to visit if we exclude the possible threats of wilderness. Nice page, Norman!
