BARCELONA

by JaumeBCN - last update: Sep 11, 2002

Barcelona is the Capital of Catalonia, a country located in the north of Spain with 6 millions of inhabitants. Barcelona is a city with more than 2000 years of history, so all kind of artistic tendences can be seen here: from Roman walls until Contemporary Olympic architecture. Barcelona is also one of the cultural & commercial centres in Spain so major events take place here all year long. A city that is still creating new projects for the future. It is also a city eminently European but doesn't forget its traditional Catalan culture. This is not only a simple page about Barcelona. It is also a tribute to my city.

I was really disappointed - it was like Manchester by the Mediterranean. Apart from Gaudi and the odd bit of 19th century architecture, it is a city lacking in charm and sophistication. Girona has more to offer.
