Wine and Mosel, just the same - Land Rheinland-Pfalz

Some nice touristic regions are located in Rheinland-Pfalz. At first there is the Mosel region, known for its wine, rustic villages and castles. Drive along the river Mosel and you will know what we mean.
Then there is the Eifel region. Beautiful nature, with green hills and the lakes in old vulcanic craters.
Rheinland-Pfalz has it all.

Rutting deer in Wildpark Daun.

Also see the travelogues for more pictures of the Mosel region and for pictures of animals in Wildpark Daun. In this park you can find many local animals like deer, swine and birds of prey, but also more exotic like berber monkeys.
The best time to vist the region i think is the beginning of fall. Because the wine making is at its peak and there are many festivals around wine. Also in fall the deer are rutting. Male deer make a deep noise to warn competitors this is their harem.

The Mosel valley is really nice, I'd planning to drive along the river by bycicle, hopefully I'll do it once! I've been to Daun several years ago, can't remember if I've seen the Wildpark, must be interesting!
