Getting TO/AROUND: When you come by train you will arive at the central station. This a beautifull building and a good starting point for your trip in Amsterdam. Many trams, metro and busses leave here. The Central Station is the first station in Netherland that was designed by an architect. Before this it was done by engeniers. The asaignment was given in 1876 to P.J.H. Cuypers and A.L. van Gendt. The design is by Cuypers, and Van Gendt - who had much experience with the railroads - concentrated on the construction.

Getting TO/AROUND: Whether you are with a VTmeeting or just on your own taking a canalboat tour is a great way to see the best city in the world. We did several canalboat tours, and they basically are the same so just look for the best price ! Most tours take one hour and they will take you through some major canals and over the IJ and Amstel. Canalboat trips are offered by: - rederij Lovers http://www.lovers.nl/- rederij Plas http://www.ibw.nl/plas/- canal bus http://www.canal.nl/- Meyer's Rondvaarten - Rederij P. Kooij - Holland International Canal Boats and more..... In the picture some of the VT meeting (march 2004) attendees.

Getting TO/AROUND: Although it seems easy to travel around Amsterdam by bike it can be a hell to park it anywhere. If you can find a save place, perferably near a post to which you can lock it, be sure the owners of the house like what you are doing. This sign says: Bikes (+cars)will be removed! And when you come back, maybe the people living her didn't remove it, but someone else could use your bike, and took it. Bikes are the most stolen item in this city.........

Getting TO/AROUND: Rent your own boat to go through the canals. It is better to do this with a group because you have to pay for the entire boat, no matter how many people. You can choose your own start and end points (providing there is a landingplace the boat can stop), and your own route. You rent this boat, with captain, for a certain time. Prices: * Panta Rhei € 170.00 an hour (up to 15 persons) * Riverside € 212.00 an hour (up to 38 persons) Minimum 1½ hour Tourist tax: 50 cent p.p. We experienced a trip on a sunny sunday afternoon and we liked it.

Espo411 Wed Jun 10, 2009 21:19 UTC Been coming to the Mooy since 1997. One of my favorite little places in A'dam. Love the location, the atmosphere & the staff. Small, but has a pool table & very few tourists...NICE! | joeaitken Wed Oct 3, 2007 21:31 UTC I did not specify that Cafe Mooy was the bar I was referring too.
