When you arrive from the mainland with the ferry, the first sight is a fietsenverhuur , or a rental bike station.
It will save you a lot of money when you park your car at the Den Helder side, cross by ferry on foot and rent a bike.
Texel is small enough to bike everywhere, they only down side is that there is always wind on Texel. And if you are a regular cyclist you know wind is always against you ;(

As Texel is an island the only way to get there is to drive your car on a ferry. The ferry is operated by TESO (Texels Eigen Stoomboot Onderneming) and leave from Den Helder. Off season the ferry leaves every hour from 6 in the morning untill 9 at night. In peak season there is a 30 minute service.
You pay at the Den Helder side for a return ticket and at the Texel side you can just drive on the ferry without paying.
