The meetings:
Our first VT meeting in Antwerp was the 21th of December 2002. And that is when we became addicted to these meetings. |
The first cultural stop at this meeting was the Diamond museum. Where they showed us all about these precious stones and their connection to Antwerp. After a coffee (or a beer) Danielle showed us the central station, a very pretty building.
Time for another drink in Antwerps oldest pub. The Quinten Matsijs dates back to 1565 and has always been a pub.
After a few drinks it was time to think about our sins, so we went to St Pauls church.The churchmaster, mr Sirjacobs, explained everything in the church very detailed.
From the famous paintings by Rubens to the third class paintings on the same wall......
Time for another drink, in the Vagant, a jeneverbar, and after that dinner at Mie Katoen.

We enjoyed Antwerp very much and were eager to accept an invitation to a pubcrawl in february 2003. This pubcrawl was just great. We didn't know what to expect, but it was better than all we could imagine. Basicly it was a tour to some of Antwerps best pubs accompanied by the music of Johnny. The lady in the red hat urged us to move on by blowing her whistle. Read all about it in our nightlife tips and the pubcrawl travelogue.

In november 2003 there was another big VT meeting in Antwerp. Again we had a lot of fun ! This was the first time we visited the graffitti walls, soon to be a classic place during VT meetings. Pictures can be found in our Provincie Antwerpen travelogue, or with some of the tips here.
In february 2004 we had a much smaller meeting, but the fun was certainly not less. This time we met Suri, Luchinda, Irisbe, Myriam_C, RaHeNi and Peter_P.

In march 2004 there was another pubcrawl. And since this page became quit full we put all the pictures at an external site : http://www.freewebs.com/tomengonnie, there is a short film too. And we made some more nightlife tips about places we haven't been before.
In november 2004 it was again VT meeting in Antwerp. This time it was in honor of almelain, to welcome her to Belgium. Again there are some new tips of things we never saw before in Antwerp. In 2004 we enjoyed the last moments of the year with some VT friends. We welcomed the year 2005 at the fireworks on the Schelde. All our pictures can be found on:

New Years day we visited the icesculptures, the theme was Antwerp in the days of Rubens.

In march 2005 Dannie took us on a guided tour through the zoo, the theme was art and altough it was not about the animals we did see a lot of them and most of the art was about animals. | | |
