We were warned before we left for Rome, again and again. There is a serious problem with pick pockets. But we didn´t have any problems, just the usually big city things. Watch your purse. Always keep some money out of your purse in your pocket, so you have only a little amount in your hand when you are paying someone. And we noticed the large quantity of police on the streets. This must help to keep this problems away. To summarize: we didn´t feel threathened or unsafe one moment in Rome, but it is always wise to be prepared........

When walking or driving in Rome be carefull. Traffic seems to come from everywhere and at any time, red lights or stop signs it doesn't matter. And judging to the cars it doesn't always go as planned. See the picture and you understand..........

Walking the streets of Rome it is like in any big city. Many beggars on the streets. Some might be sitting there quitly just holding a cup for money, but there are also very rude and imposing beggars. Just ignore it.
