Skukuza - Kruger National Park

Skukuza

Skukuza: Krugers biggest restcamp Skukuza Restcamp - Kruger National Park Review

Skukuza is the main restcamp in the park. It has the most facilities: accomodation, camping, restaurant, cafetaria, shop, bank (with ATM), postoffice, rent a car, petrolstation, and even an airport.

Unique Qualities: Being the main camp the shop is the biggest one in Kruger. It offers lots of souvenirs but also a fine choice of groceries.

Satara: Convient for gameviewing Satara Restcamp Review

Satara has accomodation, a campground, shop, restaurant, cafetaria and petrolstation. The campground is far to big to be nice in our humble opinion.

Unique Qualities: The area around Satara is known for its abundant wildlife.

Hyena at the other side of the campfence - Kruger National Park

Hyena at the other side of the campfence

Punda Maria: Northern most camp

Punda Maria is the northern most camp in the Kruger park. It is a small camp but it has the basic things you need. The small shop sells all the eesential groceries. There is a restaurant the chef even asked us if he had to wait for us to return from the nightdrive....
The campground was not very busy in september 2002 but that was fine with us, we picked a nice spot near the fence so we could see the wildlife. They were renovating the toilets and showers at the campground so this must be good for our next visit.

Olifants is said to have the best view of the park. We didn´t stay at Olifants because they don´t have a campground. But we enjoyed breakfast in their restaurant and the view over the olifantsriver.

View from Mopani camp - Kruger National Park

View from Mopani camp

Mopani: Or is this view better?

Mopani is in the north of the park. It is a small camp with no campground. The restaurant has a great view over a dam. We only visited for a short time to buy some food and souvenirs, but we were very impressed with the view.

Comparison: about average

Directions: Mopani is between Letaba and Shingwedzi
