The Masai Mara is bordering the Serengeti in Tanzania. Millions of wildebeest and zebra migrate between the two parks every year. The grazers go where the grass is best. And ofcourse where the grazers are there are predators. And altough most of the grazers had gone back to Tanzania in october there were still plenty of predators there. We saw large prides of lions and the solitairy cheetah.

Sometimes we could get very close, as in the Masai Mara cars are allowed to go off the roads.
In this case we found three male lions, or in fact some one else found them, and the news was spread on the radio. Every vehicle in the park has a radio and the drivers/guides tell the others what and where they see it. |
This cheetah had a young cub hidden in the bushes behind her.
She did a good job in hiding, it was almost impossible to get a picture of the little one...... |

Awesome pictures, I particularly liked the ones of the lions and the hippos sunbathing. I am off to the Mara in two weeks' time, desperate to see a cheetah. |
