Nafplio

There is a little bit to much tourism, but still i liked it. The narrow streets with open air restaurants,the castles on the hilltops. Go and see it for youself, or just see my travellogue.

countryside

Just drive along the countryside, don`t stay at the beach for your entire visit.
See the small villages where the farmers live. They keep goats and make cheese (feta). Or grow olive trees to make oil.

Meteora

Visit a monastery, for example one of the monasteries at Meteora.

The monasteries are built on beautifull shaped rocks.

Delphi

Delphi is situated in a lovely surrounding of green mountains. There are lots of ruins (not only the oracle).

The Islands: Kos

Kos is a small island. Kos city is the place to stay, you will find everything there from beaches to restaurants and discos.

Nissiros is a vulcanic island. It can visited on a daytrip from nearby Kos.

Another daytrip from Kos. It is the island where St John, the evangelist was exiled to: Patmos.

The Islands: Rhodes

Rhodes is near to Turkey. The colos of Rhodes, the big statue of a man standing over the harbour entrance is no longer there, but lots of other old things to see.

Symi is the island of the sponge divers. It can be visited on a daytrip from nearby Rhodes.

The Islands: Zakynthos

Zakynthos is in the Ionian see, at the left side of the Greece mainland if you look at a map. Stay in Zakynthos city if possible. Not a very big city but a nice and hospitable one.

The Islands: Crete

All islands are in the tourist business. Most have beautifull beaches. And there are lots of restaurants and bars and nightlife is good during the summerseason. And if you want to do something cultural most islands have excavations.

Crete is the biggest island of them all. Famous for the Knossos.
