Bhaktapur Travel Guide: 104 reviews and 304 photos

Bhaktapur, along the old trade route between India and Tibet, was the capital city of the Greater Malla Kingdom untill the 15th century. Bhaktapur was founded in the 12th century by King Ananda Malla.
Bhaktapurs Durbar Square is listed a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Unique palaces, temples and monasteries have great artworks in wood, metal and stone. The entire city looks like it has not escaped from the middleages and is certainly worth visiting.

Bhaktapur is not only known for its old buildings, but also for the craftsmenship of its local people.
Pottery is a main craft and can be seen at two pottery squares.
