"Pulilan, Bulacan" Pulilan by cyndymc

Pulilan is a 1st class urban municipality in the province of Bulacan, Philippines. My husband and I went there last November,2008 for a photo shoot. A friend asked why I didn't post a travel guide on such an interesting place, so I'm making this late posting.

Pulilan is famous for its Carabao Festival where carabaos (water buffalos) are paraded; then, as they pass through San Isidro Labrador parish church, they kneel and delight onlookers by walking on their knees like traditional Catholic penitents do, in honor of the town's patron saint, San Isidro Labrador.

Butterflies at Pulilan Butterfly Haven

The Pulilan Butterfly Haven was founded by Mrs Estelita Caleon-Aguirre, a poetess, CPA, Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (am not sure if ex- or incumbent). She conceived the idea and set up an ecological sanctuary on their ancestral property in Pulilan, Bulacan

San Isidro Labrador Church,Viewed From Our Car

The town of Pulilan was once named San Isidro, in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of the farmers. San Isidro Labrador Church is one of the most historical churches in the Province of Bulacan.
