Getting to Know Tanay

Tanay is a first class municipality of Rizal Province, consisting of 19 barangays. It was formerly a part of Pililla, Rizal, but was founded as a separate town or "pueblo" in 1606 with the name "Monte de Tan-ay". It is bounded on the northeast by Antipolo City; on the west by the Rizal towns of Montalban, Baras, Morong and Teresa; on the east by Gen, Nakar, Quezon Province; on the south by Pililla, Rizal and Sta. Maria, Laguna; on the southwest by Laguna de Bay.

Being located at the foothills of Sierra Madre Mountains, Tanay is gifted by nature with beautiful mountains, caves, rivers, streams, and waterfalls. Only about 26 kms. from Manila, Tanay has become a favorite destination for mountaineers, campers, local and foreign tourists, artists, as well as photo enthusiasts.
