"Dublin-Princess of Ireland" Ireland by cdean

Flight from Tampa to Atlanta via U.S. Air... no hassles or delays other than the usual "security".. etc. Pleasant chat with seatmate returning to Ireland after a visit with her son here in the Boston area. She had some useful tips for my visit too. It was a beautiful sunny morning in Dublin maybe around 65 degrees. Very pleasant.. Took a bus into the city from the airport. We came over the McConnell Street bridge and football jerseys were strung across the street just as you crossed onto the south side of the Liffy River. The bus dropped me right near Trinity College. Before my trip, I had looked at some maps of the area near where I planned to stay. It must have helped because I seemed to know exactly where to go. The Central Hotel was a little seedy but quite comfortable and very well located. There is a bar on the second level called The Library. It is a quiet, dark room with long windows overlooking Exchequer Street, comfortable chairs, and book lined walls and of course, a bar.... great idea! The hotel served a buffet Irish breakfast that was generous and tasty. I enjoyed a hearty breakfast and got going early. The Central Hotel is just a few blocks from Temple Bar - party central.. Late at night on the weekend there there is a lot of street noise from late party animals.

Cemetery at Glendalough

Day trip to Glendalough - an ancient monastic site in the Wicklow Mountains. About 25 minutes out of Dublin you out of the city and in beautiful countryside. I saw some palm trees along the coastline.
