It is the center of Shingon Buddhism, an important Buddhist sect which was introduced to Japan in 805 by the monk Kobo Daishi. A small temple town has developed around the sect's headquarters, with over a hundred temples.

    some great temples here and good to see, the statues in the graveyard are always well dressed !

      The place has a very unusual atmosphere, a giant old cemetery in the mountains...
