Nightlife Spot: Patpong
Patpong road is a well know red light district located between Silom road and Suriwong road.It was founded by the Patpongpanich family in the 1960s. Patpong is two streets with both downstairs and upstairs bars. The best known and established bars are the King's group bars ,the smaller individual ones like Cosmos,Crown Royale and the Madrid. Most of the upstairs bars are "clip joints" in which you can get into some serious trouble if your not careful.I've heard of people having to fight their way out rather than paying a very fat bill.So before you venture up make sure you know which bar is safe.Patpong looks very run down and dirty in daylight but when the sun goes down ,the music starts and the neon shines .It's one of those places most Westerners and Thais want to see. However alot are disgusted afterwards.Whatever you feel ,just remember most people who work there are not there by choice. Also do not asume that all Thailand is just Patpong .

Nightlife Spot: Nana Plaza
Walk into Soi Nana and go up to the top floor and you will find the Carosel's Bar with two rotating carosels with a go-go show and a mechanical bull.. Customers here are cheered on by the girls to ride this full sized mechanical bull!Once you are mounted a girl whips the *&!##%$ out of you while you try to hold on for dear life as the operator spins you around frantically for the last 10 seconds of your ride. Make sure you have had more than a few drinks before you attempt to ride...

Nightlife Spot: Gheko Bar
The Ghecko bar is very well known by people staying in Soi Rambutri because the beers here are cheaper than most palces around Bunglumphu. The bar is nothing special but is located in a good position to watch people. Big bottles of Heineken 75 Baht .The local Thai beer Singha 65 ,Leo 50 ,Chang 45 Baht and big cocktails for 70 baht. You can also get cheap local food such as sticky rice & BBQ chicken from venders & food cart across from the bar.In the late afternoon you will often see tables with more than one big empty bottle of local beer. Why can't you walk in a straight line..man?

Nightlife Spot: Ratchada Soi 4
Ratchada Soi 4 is the place to go to if you want to see what young Thais do for a good time. The Soi is filled with bars that have live bands and most of them are packed by 11 pm .Bars here generally close around 1:30 am but there are exceptions. Why is everyone drinking Green Tea at 3 am? The norm here is to come in groups and share a bottle of whiskey . A Johnny Walker Black is about 1200 baht with mixers,Red 700 baht and there are the cheaper ones too. This place is extreamly popular with the young crowd ,many looking like they just got out of diapers. Every now and then THE BOYS IN BROWN will hit this area to make sure places close at 1 am and there are no under age drinkers .Don't be surprised if you have to get out of the taxis to be searched....so make sure you bring some ID.

Nightlife Spot: ..Ad Here the 13th
Walk in the opposite direction of Khaosan Road and cross a dirty canal to Samsen Road. You will come across a small bar with dim lighting. This is the Blues bar (Ad Here The 13th) ,a kind of intimate 'Bohemian' hang-out for people who are into good folk and blues music. The bar often gets crowed later in the evenings so it's sometimes difficult to find a seat.If you can sing or can play an instrument you are welcome to jam.The place is decorated with old jazz, folk and blues album covers .There are also lots of small sketches people have done and stuck them up all over the bar

Nightlife Spot: Gullivers' Tavern
There are two Gullivers in BKK.One off Sukhumvit Road and the other side of town at the end of Khaosan Road. Both are "farang" friendly bars to drink at and for watching sports as there are T.Vs in every corner. The one in Sukhumvit is large and there is an outside area to sit .The one at Khaosan Road can get very lively late especially on Fr /Sat.There are about four pool tables ,a dart board upstairs and there is free internet service. Drinks here are pricey but there are a variaty of beers and a happy hour, good music and plenty of helpful staff. Try the fried rice served in a whole pinapple or the fish & chips. There are also lots of friendly Thai girls here ready to lock n' loll. Check them out dancing on pool tables around midnight

Nightlife Spot: Por Krung Pow
This is a really "Thai" place and it's huge. You have the mellow outside area where everything is very wooden and country .You can sit Thai style on cushions or in your littlle private area near a water fall.Later in the evening you should go inside and check this place out. A live band with at least 8 musicians provide the "Thai for Liife" tunes. There is also a DJ between sets, that's when all the local girls start shakin' it.
