Besides the Taj Mahal there are other sites well worth visiting around that area. The Baby Taj is on a lesser scale but has some impressive artwork. The Fort where Shah Jahan, the builder of the Taj, was imprisoned by his son in the last years of his life, is perched high up, and one can imagine him gazing out to the Taj across the river to the beautiful Taj where his beloved Mumtaz lay. |
| | Gwalior Fort A short train ride from Agra this impressive fort is amazing. Perched 100m high above the town with a sheer drop the fort was constructed early in the 14th century, and has seen many masters fighting for control. |
| | Gwalior Fort This impressive fort commands impressive views over the town. |

I was in India in August 2008 and it's a really great country. | SWFC_Fan Sun Aug 10, 2008 19:00 UTC Great photos, Krissy! I haven't managed to visit India *yet*, but would love to do so one day soon! I've heard the Taj Mahal is every bit as impressive in reality as in the photos. SWFC top of the league...who'd have thought it! :-) |
